The final Music Live with Lunch of the season brings in harpist KatieRose Taylor on May 15 at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, 525 Fifth Ave.

Taylor will play traditional Celtic pieces from artists like famous blind harper Turlough O’Carolan and original compositions she wrote called “Diamonds” inspired by the Olympic Peninsula.

Taylor plays both Celtic and pedal harp, and has won awards at various levels, including the grand prize five years in a row at the Scottish Highland Games. She’s performed with the Palomar Symphony, La Jolla Symphony, Eastman Harp Ensemble and the Port Angeles Symphony.

Recently, she’s specialized in early childhood development and harp therapy for infants, children and people in hospice. Taylor is a licensed KinderMusik Instructor working toward earning her degree in music therapy.

Timing a break

The music series runs the third Tuesday of each month September-May, minus December.

“This season has gone well,” said event organizer Carolyn Braun. “We’ve had good attendance and good write-ups on the events.”

She and her husband, Ray, have organized the event since 2001 and are planning to take a one-year hiatus next season.

“We love it but would like to be able to get away for longer periods of time than this monthly series allows,” she said.

Braun is hopeful someone will organize the event for a year, and to soften the workload, she’s in process of scheduling next season’s performers.

“We just want a year off and after that we’ll see where we’re at,” Braun said.

Music Live with Lunch concerts begin at noon with local musicians followed by a hot homemade lunch at 12:30 p.m. Vegetarian meals also are offered. Tickets are $10 and St. Luke’s donates a portion of money received to local charitable organizations.

Tickets are available at St. Luke’s office, which is open 9 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Monday-Friday. Phone 683-4862 ahead of time for tickets. For more information, call Carolyn Braun at 452-0495.
