Come writers, come listeners! Writers on the Spit invite you to celebrate two years of Fourth Friday Readings on Feb. 28 at Rainshadow Coffee Bar, 157 W. Cedar St., in Sequim. The public is invited to arrive at 6 p.m. for a good seat. Readings begin at 6:30 p.m.

This month’s featured peninsula writers are Rita Kepner (Norland) and Keith Moul (Port Angeles).

Most of Kepner’s published writings have been as writer/editor of one weekly newspaper and managing editor of another, with various pieces published in local, national and international publications. She earned national photojournalism awards for newsletter writing and radio program awards for on-air contributions. “Christmas Guitar” was Kepner’s first published fictional short story.

For the Fourth Friday Readings, Kepner will read from her recently published book (written under a pen name), “Through Fire and Water: True Stories of Rita Marie Matthiesen as told to Laura Callender” — a memoir that reads like an adventure novel.

Moul recently retired in Port Angeles with his wife, Sylvia. His poems have been published widely for more than 40 years, and since 2010, more than 300 of his photographs have been published in magazines. His books include “The Grammar of Mind” (Blue & Yellow Dog), “Beautiful Agitation” (Red Ochre Press) and “Reconsidered Light” (Broken Publications), a collection of poems written to accompany his photographs.

Kepner and Moul will be followed by five-minute open mike readings. Writers are invited to sign in and have their names called in the order drawn.
