History Tales focuses on rehabbing lighthouse lens

The Clallam County Historical Society will host its annual meeting at the History Tales presentation at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, June 4, at the First United Methodist Church social hall, 110 E. Seventh St., Port Angeles.

The annual meeting will focus on CCHS’s collaboration with two county organizations. The society loaned the Cape Flattery Fourth Order Fresnel lens to the New Dungeness Light Station Association.

Members of the group will show photos of the move and restoration of the lens. Volunteers spent 150 hours polishing the brass.

Laurie Davies, who has worked tirelessly with Clallam County Fair royalty, will talk about her research and quest to fill in some gaps in the royalty history.

New board members and officers will be installed for the 2017-2018 term and the winners of the Heritage Award will be announced. Light refreshments will be served following the presentation.

History Tales is free and open to the public. For more information, call the Clallam County Historical Society’s office at 452-2662 or e-mail artifact@olypen.com.
