Railroad Bridge Park hosts a special free Outdoor Fun Fair on Saturday, April 28, encouraging people of all ages to hop like a frog and run like an elk.

Part of the fair celebrates the park’s “Animal Olympics,” a new fitness station.

“Animal Olympics is an innovative way for people to enjoy exercising outdoors,“ said Powell Jones, Dungeness River Audubon Center director. “Animal Olympics is not just for kids. It is amazing how challenging it is to flap your ‘wings’ like a hummingbird bird 100 times.”

The center partnered with the North Olympic Health Champions, a group including the Jamestown S’Klallam Tribe, U.S. Fish and Wildlife, U.S. Forest Service and Olympic Medical Center, to produce the Animal Olympics to help children go outdoors and be more active and healthy.

The fair includes clogging, yoga, Zumba, guided walks, a family bike ride on the Olympic Discovery Trail, exhibits, and more.

A bird walk kicks off the day at 8:30 a.m., the North Olympic Cloggers perform at 10 a.m. and activities for all ages run until 4 p.m.

Food is available for sale at the event while all other events are free.

See a full schedule at www.dungenessrivercenter.org.

The fair kicks off the center’s fourth annual Dungeness Spring Fling, a fundraiser that encourages participants to get outdoors, have fun and increase their fitness for a good cause. Participants support education programs of the center and maintenance of Railroad Bridge Park while walking, hiking, biking, gardening, and/or birding.

This year marks the 20th anniversary of Railroad Bridge Park and the goal for the Dungeness Spring Fling is to have 20 teams to raise $20,000.

Registration forms will be available at the Outdoor Fun Fair.

Spring Fling events, such as the 5K River Center Run on May 12 and guided walks and hikes, will take place through May.
