Volunteer Hospice of Clallam County hosts a “Living Alone Now” workshop from 2-3:30 p.m., Thursday, March 12, at the VHOCC headquarters, 829 E. Eighth St., Port Angeles.
The “Cooking for One” workshop is designed to assist those experiencing a recent transition to shopping and preparing meals for one due to the loss of a life partner.
Rosalinda Castiglioni will offer tips for shopping in small quantities, varied and nutritional menus, ready-made options, and use and storage of leftovers.
A retired educator and teaching psychologist, having taught both in the U.S. and abroad, Castiglioni volunteers at Olympic Medical Center and VHOCC. Her love for cooking and living independently drew her to volunteer to lead the Cooking for One workshop. Food and cooking, she said, does wonders for the soul and for friendships/relationships.
The workshop is free and open to the public. Space is limited; pre-registration is required, by calling 360-452-1511 or emailing to vsm@vhocc.org.
The VHOCC “Living Alone Now Series” continues through the rest of March. Upcoming workshops are Fraud Prevention & Consumer Protection (March 19), and Self-Care (March 26).
