Volunteer Hospice of Clallam County is kicking off the new year with its biannual series, “Survivors Workshops: Practical Advice to Living Alone.”
Each of the four workshops is designed to assist you with dealing with the everyday problems that are likely to arise now that you live alone and confront daily living after the loss of a loved one. You will get practical advice and guidelines to help you with these new challenges.
The series will take place in Port Angeles at the Hospice House, 810 S. Albert St., behind the VHOCC office on Eighth Street. The workshops are set up on four consecutive Wednesdays from 1:30-3 p.m.
The first one is on Wednesday, Jan. 18, with a focus on “Financial Management” with Mark Harvey. This is an important session as it relates to your financial affairs, especially so if your spouse was the one handling your finances.
Continuing on Wednesday, Jan. 25, Michael Bucierka will take participants through the important steps of “Home and Car Maintenance.”
Next the focus will be on “Self-Care” with Debby Smith and Maggie Bourne-Raiswell who will remind everyone that caring themselves is crucial now that they live alone.
The series concludes with “Cooking For One” with a presentation by Carolyn DeSalvo, N.D.
The entire series is free to the public, but registration is necessary by calling VHOCC at 452-1511, as space is limited.
