Jail scores well on review

Sheriff Bill Benedict announced Aug. 8 that the Clallam County Corrections facility passed a focused review with 100 percent compliance. The review was conducted by jail managers and law enforcement professionals from all over western Washington and looked at over 148 jail standards relating to best practices and required policies to operation a safe and effective correctional facility. The assessors evaluated policies and procedures relating to treatment and care of inmates, facility management, disabled services, food services and more.

The Clallam County Corrections Facility is the first county jail in the state of Washington to receive accreditation.
