JFFA gears up for dancing competition benefit

Eight local celebrity dancers get together to compete for the Mirror Ball Trophy. Just like the hit TV show, “Dancing With The Stars,” professional dancers with the Utah Ballroom Dance Company will partner with eight local “stars” to learn and perform a ballroom dance routine.

A local judging panel includes Kayla Oakes, Bill Tiderman and Lynda Williamson.

The audience votes for who will take home the coveted Mirror Ball Trophy.

The local dance celebrities are Rick Ross, Amity Butler, Ron Jones, Ange Oppelt, Gene Turner, Janet Lucas, Steve Methner and Rosalynn Rees.Tickets are $15-$25 (youth 14 and under are $10).

There also will be an after show party with all the stars at 9 p.m. in the Masonic Temple, 622 S. Lincoln St. with tickets $20 for ages 21 and over. The event includes dancing, an auction and a no-host bar.

Dancing with the Port Angeles Stars is JFFA’s annual fundraising event. The Utah Ballroom Dance Company will be in town Sept. 15-20 so dance lessons also will be available. Call 457-5411 for details.
