Junior Science Explorers will be offered again at the Sequim Library in March and April.
Nurture your child’s natural sense of adventure and curiosity, encourage them to be a persistent problem solver, and introduce them to basic elements of scientific reasoning with preschool and primary science activities.
Programs are designed for children ages 4-6 and their caregivers; registration is required.
To register, visit the Sequim Library events calendar at www.nols.org, call the library at 360-683-1161 or email to youth@nols.org.
All materials are provided.
The Sequim Library is at 630 N. Sequim Ave.
This program is generously supported by the Friends of Sequim Library.
The schedule includes:
• 12:30-1:15 p.m. Saturday, March 9 — “Marshmallow Astronauts: Air Pressure in Space”
Presenter Christine Spaulding introduces children to the scientific concept of air pressure in space. Participants will design and test the safety of a space suit for a marshmallow astronaut, observing what happens when put in a vacuum chamber.
• 11:30 a.m.-12:15 p.m. — “The Bone Zone”
Presenters from the Pacific Science Center work with children to assemble a mini skeleton and explore the shape, movement and function of bones and joints. Participants also look at X-rays and examine real bone specimens.
