Learn about ‘Sounds of Spring’ at Backyard Birding on April 6

Enjoy the “Sounds of Spring” at the next Backyard Birding event meeting set for 10 a.m.-noon on Saturday, April 6, in the Rainshadow Hall at Dungeness River Nature Center, 1943 W. Hendrickson Road.

Presenter Dow Lambert, a veteran birder and photographer, will be assisted by Ken Wiersema and offer local photography and sound and video recordings to increase and refresh attendees’ knowledge of the bird songs and calls of spring heard throughout the Olympic Peninsula’s yards, fields, forests and shores.

They will also introduce attendees to the free Merlin Sound ID app offered by the Cornell Ornithology Lab.

Admission to the series is free; however, a $5 donation is suggested to support the Olympic Peninsula Audubon Society’s ongoing education and bird conservation programs.

Attendees are also asked to be aware of the latest COVID-19 health precautions as recommended by Clallam County Public Health and the Jamestown S’Klallam Tribe.
