Take the leap into pruning roses on Leap Day at the Sequim Botanical Garden.
Lee Bowen, Sequim Botanical Garden Society Vice President and a 27-year botanical gardener, leads the society’s next “Work to Learn” party set for 1 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 29, at the Terrace Garden at Carrie Blake Community Park adjacent to the James Center for the Performing Arts band shell at 350 N. Blake Ave.
Following Bowen’s presentation about “Pruning the Golden Celebration Roses,” learn how to support the garden in other volunteer opportunities besides trimming and weeding. There will be a guided tour of the Terrace Garden’s development and learn about the preparation and fundraising efforts for the Sequim Botanical Garden’s next project: the Rose Garden.
“Work to Learn” Parties are opportunities for novices and seasoned gardeners to volunteer together. Those who want to are asked to bring gardening gloves, tools, sunscreen and hats.
The Sequim Botanical Garden Society is a volunteer partner with the City of Sequim and a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that provides education and demonstrations of what can be done in home gardening with research-based horticultural practices.
