Library storytimes, on the road

Local libraries are hitting the proverbial road during the annual Summer Reading Program with a special roving storytime series in Sequim. Listen, talk, sing, read, write and play all around the town this summer.

Storytimes are geared towards toddlers and preschoolers and the adults in their lives. Catch the special storytime at 10:30 a.m. at three different locations around Sequim:

• Sequim Farmers Market, Saturday, June 30

Introduce your child to the sights and sounds of the Sequim Farmers Market during a special Farmers Market Storytime, held at the Sequim Civic Center Plaza, 152 W. Cedar St.

• Sequim Fire Station, Thursday, July 12

Meet firefighters and learn about fire safety during a Fire Station Storytime at the Clallam County Fire District #3 headquarters, 323 N. Fifth Ave. Participants should be prepared for a short walk. (Parking is limited, but additional parking is available at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, 525 N. Fifth Ave.)

• Railroad Bridge Park, Thursday, July 26

Enjoy river sounds and bird songs at an outdoor storytime in the Railroad Bridge Park amphitheater. The Dungeness River Audubon Center, 2151 W. Hendrickson Road, will also be open to visitors for families to enjoy and trails abound just waiting to be explored. Participants should be prepared for a short walk to the amphitheater. (Close parking is limited; additional parking is available at entrance to the park.)

The theme for the 2018 Summer Reading Program is “Libraries Rock!” This summertime celebration that runs through Aug. 18 encourages children to keep reading during the summer break from school, and features a reading challenge and a multitude of events for all ages.

The Summer Reading Program is supported by the Friends of the Library at all four peninsula libraries.
