Library to host science lesson, junior explorers programs

Second Saturday Science will be offered at the Sequim Library, 630 N. Sequim Ave., at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 8.

Designed for ages 7-12, the Second Saturday Science series creates fun, hands-on opportunities for children to explore concepts related to science, technology, engineering and math (STEM).

During this session, presenters from the Pacific Science Center will guide participants in exploring the world of optics; learning the locations and functions of various parts of the eye.

A Junior Science Explorers program follows on Feb. 8 at 12:30 p.m.

“Nurture your child’s natural sense of adventure and curiosity, encourage your child to be a persistent problem solver and introduce your child to basic elements of scientific reasoning with preschool and primary science activities,” library representatives said.

Designed for children ages 4-6 and their caregivers, this session of Junior Science Explorers sees staff from the Pacific Science Center guide children in exploring how the brain works in identifying textures, scents and other sensory input.

Registration for these events is required. To register, visit www.nols.org or contact the Sequim Library at 360-683-1161 or youth@nols.org.
