The New Dungeness Light Station Association will hold its annual general meeting at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 17, at Trinity United Methodist Church, 100 S. Blake Ave., Sequim.
This year’s speaker, Ken Normington, will share his stories of life on Connecticut’s Greens Ledge Light, a spark plug lighthouse offshore in western Long Island Sound. As a Coast Guard Engineman 3rd class, Normington’s main responsibility was to keep the three generators running in this four-story, 52-foot conical lighthouse. Come meet him and find out about the challenges and adventures of living in a lighthouse only accessible by boat.
Additionally, catch up on what has happened at the New Dungeness Light Station this past year and learn how to become part of this group of volunteers who help keep the light shining on the Strait of Juan de Fuca.
There will be refreshments, door prizes and four unique items for the silent auction. Three original watercolor lighthouse paintings, two by Forks’ artist Penny Winn and one by local artist Todd Fischer. The fourth silent auction item will be a three-night stay at the Point No Point Lighthouse vacation rental in Hansville. A one-week stay at the New Dungeness Light Station for two adults and family membership for a year will be raffled off. Raffle tickets will be available to purchase as well as a variety of New Dungeness Lighthouse merchandise.
You do not need to be a member to attend this event. Everyone is welcome.
