Volunteer Hospice of Clallam County announces a “Living Alone Now” workshop, set for 2-4 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 12, at Hospice House, 810 S. Albert St., Port Angeles.
Mark Harvey, writes the weekly “Help Line” column in the Peninsula Daily News, facilitates the workshop, focusing on issues of aging, caregiving and preparing for one’s final years.
Harvey is the director of Clallam/Jefferson Senior Information & Assistance, which operates through the Olympic Area Agency on Aging, and a member of the Community Advocates for Rural Elders partnership.
The workshop is designed to offer a face-to-face discussion between Harvey and those experiencing a transition due to the recent loss of a life partner.
The workshop is free and open to the public. As space is limited, pre-registration is required by calling the office reception at 360-452-1511 or emailing vsm@vhocc.org.
Harvey requests that participants submit in advance their questions about Medicare, Medicaid, long-term care, in-home help and end-of-life planning so he can address individual concerns. Email questions to vsm@vhocc.org or by calling 360-452-1511 and asking for the Volunteer Services Manager.
Operating with a team of registered nurses and trained volunteers, Volunteer Hospice of Clallam County supports terminally ill patients and their families emotionally, physically and spiritually. Ongoing grief support services and loan of medical equipment are also available to anyone in the community. The organization does not charge for its services and does not bill any government agency, relying on private donations and bequests.
