Local Lions travel to district conference in Canada

A contingent of Olympic Peninsula Lions attended the District I Conference, including nine Forks Lions, four from Clallam Bay Sekiu, five from Port Angeles (including former local pharmacist, Kevin Borde), and four from Sequim Valley. The conference was in Sidney By the Sea on Vancouver Island.

Zone chair Maureen Winn of Clallam Bay Sekiu Lions reported on achievements and activities in the zone and Dr. Nancy Messmer hosted a display of Lions environment projects. Bob McDonald, CBC host of “Quirks and Quarks” was the keynote speaker. Lions Clubs District conferences link Lions from 58 clubs in learning and fellowship, assisting them in the ongoing work of serving their communities.

Messmer received the Leadership Award and is Environment Chair for Multiple District 19, serving almost 500 Lions Clubs in Washington, British Columbia and Northern Idaho.
