Master Gardeners hosting Garden Festival

WSU Clallam County Master Gardeners are inviting the community to their demonstration garden on Saturday, Sept. 9, for a garden festival. The event will be from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at the Woodcock Demonstration Garden, 2711 Woodcock Road, Sequim.

A variety of events will be organized during the festival. At 10:30 a.m, a demonstration will be given by Master Gardener Cathy Wagner on arranging fall flowers from the garden.

Wagner will show attendees how to extend the fall beauty of a garden by making beautiful arrangements for inside the home.

Another presentation will be held at 12:30 p.m. on fall and winter gardening in the Pacific Northwest. The speaker, Master Gardener Elaine Webber, will share a list of gardening tasks for homeowners to consider for the upcoming cool and wet winter months.

A plant clinic will be available during the garden festival. Plant clinics are a free resource to the public for help in answering gardening questions and solving insect and plant disease problems in home gardens.

In addition to the special presentations and plant clinic, Master Gardeners will be on-hand to share their experiences and expertise on a variety of topics including planting a winter vegetable garden, pruning fruit trees and using natives in the landscape.

Picnic tables and an open lawn area will be available for those who choose to bring a picnic lunch to enjoy the beauty of the garden.

This is a free event that is open to the public, but donations will be accepted to help support the maintenance costs of the garden. No reservations are needed for attendance. For more information, call 360-565-2679.
