Christina Heliker presents “Native Birds and Active Volcanoes: Backyard Birding in Hawaii Volcanoes National Park” at the Olympic Peninsula Audubon Society meeting at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 16, at the Dungeness River Audubon Center, 2151 W. Hendrickson Road, in Sequim. The meeting is free and open to the public.
Heliker, a geologist at the U.S. Geological Service Hawaiian Volcano Observatory, lived at the summit of Kilauea with Hawaii Volcanoes National Park in her backyard.
