Each year across the United States, Soroptimist organizations award the Live Your Dream (LYD) award. The LYD program aids women who, as heads of their households, must enter or return to the workforce to support themselves and their families. Awards can be used for childcare, training, college tuition and/or living expenses.

This year, Soroptimist International of Sequim announced Amanda McKoin is the group’s 2020 recipient.

McKoin is a single mother and plans to use her $1,500 award for college. She will be attending Peninsula College in January 2021.

McKoin will be working to attain an associate’s degree in computer science/information technology (IT) and pursue a career in IT security and possibly criminal justice.
