Sequim Elks Lodge 2642, with the help of a Beacon Grant from Elks National Foundation, organized a winter wonderland skate party in Port Angeles recently for Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) families.
After a snowstorm catastrophe that threatened the cancellation of the event, volunteer community members helped to get the skate rink back in order for the last weekend of skating. Children and their parents/advocates enjoyed a beautiful cold sunny day of skating.
The Elks group provided each child with a pair of socks and warm mittens and provided hot chocolate drinks for participants.
“Families members were over-joyous with smiles on their faces as they skated around the rink but most of all was watching skaters providing encouragement to each other,” Elks representatives said. “The expressions of appreciation from families to the Sequim Elks providing this family day of skating was heartwarming.”
