Milestone: Clallam PUD gets award for ‘Excellence in Financial Reporting’

The Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) recently awarded the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting to Public Utility District No. 1 of Clallam County for its annual comprehensive financial report for the fiscal year ended Dec. 31, 2020.

The report, PUD officials said, was judged by “an impartial panel to meet the high standards of the program, which includes demonstrating a constructive ‘spirit of full disclosure’ to clearly communicate its financial story and motivate potential users and user groups to read the report.”

The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting, and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management, PUD representatives said.

The GFOA notified PUD commission president Will Purser of the award and he conducted a formal presentation of it, and the accompanying Award of Financial Reporting Achievement to the Accounting Department at the Commissioner meeting on June 13.

“I am proud that our accounting team is being publicly recognized for the outstanding effort that they have put into this achievement which is yet another best practice designation for the district, which benefits our customers,” Purser said.
