Milestone: March is Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month

The Clallam County Board of Commissioners announced on Feb. 27 its participation and proclamation of Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month.

The purpose of Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month is to raise awareness and foster inclusion of people who experience intellectual and developmental disabilities in all areas of community life, as well as an awareness that people who experience intellectual and developmental disabilities continue to face barriers in fully connecting with the community in which they live.

Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month, county officials note, highlights three main areas of daily life: education, employment and community living.

Those with questions regarding employment for those who experience intellectual and developmental disabilities are encouraged to call Clallam County Health & Human Services ~ Developmental Disabilities at 360-417-2407.
