On Aug. 9, Clallam County Master Gardeners presented their coveted Golden Trowel Award to Valarie Bowers, Peggy Goette and Marsha Robin during a recognition ceremony held at the Woodcock Demonstration Garden.

The event was attended by more than 50 of their fellow Master Gardeners.

Each of these awardees has met and exceeded the Golden Trowel requirements of being active in the organization for more than seven years and dedicating more than 750 hours of volunteer time.

Their volunteer activities have included care and maintenance of various areas of the Woodcock Demonstration Garden, educational outreach to the community through plant clinics, garden walks, presentations, demonstrations at the Port Angeles 5th Street vegetable garden, and assisting with the annual plant sale and Petals to Pathways garden tour, as well as lending a helping hand in ongoing demonstration garden projects.

A rock paver engraved with the honorees name and date of award was presented to each of the three honorees and will be installed in a pathway displaying the pavers of all Golden Trowel recipients at the garden.
