Milestone: Meals aplenty at VFW, thanks to Khela family

The Khela family and community contributors helped deliver 300 Thanksgiving meals at the Sequim VFW Post in November.

The family has been generously offering free-to-the-community Thanksgiving and Christmas meals since 2013.

This year’s meals would not have been possible, event organizers say, without a number of volunteers — Singh Khela, Ramesh Khela, Kurin Pandher, Sukhy Dhillon, Kevin O’Neill, Ken Bearly, Steve Henrickson, Judy Reandeau Stipe, Kris Nordstrom, Sue Dannendrock, Sonny Khela — along with donations and contributions from: Hap Khela of Sun Taxi; Steve, Neil and Sean at the VFW; John and Melanie from Grocery Outlet (Port Angeles); Paul and Sue from That Takes The Cake; Breanne from the Sequim Walmart, and Aman, Carmen, Harnek and Ravi of the Sequim Shell station.

A special thanks to Sequim Valley Foursquare Church for their contributions of socks, jackets and blankets toward this year’s drive.
