Milestone: North Olympic Salmon Coalition group picks officers

The Board of Directors of the North Olympic Salmon Coalition recently elected board members and officers.

Current board members Andy Brastad, Brian Roe and Richard Wojt were re-elected to new two-year terms while Hansi Hals, the Natural Resources Manager for the Jamestown S’Klallam Tribe, was elected as a new board member. (Hals succeeds board member Scott Chitwood, who recently retired as the tribe’s Natural Resources Director.)

The Salmon Coalition Board also elected its officers for the year: Jim Pearson as Chair; Kathryn Neal to Vice-Chair; Terry Sweeney as Treasurer, and Brian Roe as Secretary. Other board members include Katherine Baril, Jean Erreca and Anita Schumker.

The North Olympic Salmon Coalition is one of 14 Regional Salmon Enhancement Groups created by the Washington state. It is a community-based, nonprofit organization whose mission is “to promote robust wild salmon stocks through habitat restoration and education.”

It serves northern Jefferson and Clallam Counties from Port Ludlow to Neah Bay.
