Milestone: Olson receives Rotary honor

Vita Olson, a freshman at Sequim High School, recently was named Sequim Sunrise Rotary’s March student of the month.

Olson has lived in Sequim most of her life and is the daughter of Jodi and Taylor Olson. She also has a younger sister in middle school.

Knudson nominated Olson and told Rotarians that she is a 4.0 grade-point average student who has a busy schedule and always has a positive attitude and smile on her face. She also helps mentor the younger students and along with some of her other classmates, likes to help senior citizens learn how to use computers.

Olson’s favorite classes include science, technology, engineering and math and she is actively involved in the Washington State Science and Engineering Fair.

She loves learning about culture and history and is a cross country runner and dressage rider.

Her plans for the future include attending a four-year college and entering into a career in environmental engineering.
