Milestone: Olympic Medical Center honors support services director

Julie Black, director of support services, recently received Olympic Medical Center’s leadership award for being responsive, hard-working and an inspiration to others at a management meeting recently.

“I regularly receive comments of appreciation for Julie from staff and department leadership,” Jennifer Burkhardt, chief human resources officer and general counsel, said. “For example, Julie recently encouraged and helped a member of her team complete an application to Peninsula College. Now that employee is fulfilling her dream of becoming a certified nursing assistant.”

In addition to being a positive role model and an inspiration to her staff, OMC officials said, Black responds to urgent situations, does not hesitate to assist with housekeeping tasks and finds solutions to improve procedures.

Black oversees security/safety, emergency preparedness, housekeeping, dietary, hazardous waste and the volunteer program. She also coordinates employee events and OMC’s annual United Way Fund Drive.
