Olympic Medical Center’s sterile processing group got kudos from OMC Chief Financial Officer Darryl Wolfe at a Dec. 5 board of commissioners meeting.
Sterile processing manager Brad Macomber and certified registered central service technicians Douglas Wilson, Jennifer Duncan, Justin Horn, Loretta Lesure, Michael Deasy, Nick Spurrier, Rosemary Wasden, Sean Emerton and Sharron Merritt each were honored for ongoing performance improvement initiatives.
“Despite constantly evolving workflow processes, manufacturer guidelines and government regulations, this team continues to achieve milestones in adhering to national best practices,” Wolfe said.
The sterile processing unit sterilizes and distributes more than 4,000 medical tools and devices monthly to the hospital emergency department, intensive care unit, the labor and delivery unit, operating room and clinics throughout the organization.
“During the past two years, the entire sterile processing staff have become certified and formed into an incredible team,” Kathi Pressley, director of materials management, said.
Pressley noted it is rare in the industry for an entire department to be certified.
