Amalia Bell, an 11-year-old student at Roosevelt Elementary School in Port Angeles, is the grand prize winner of the 2020 North Olympic Discovery Marathon Kids Medal Design Contest.
Bell will work with race director Victoria Jones and the medal design team at Ashworth Awards to fine tune, approve and finalize the kids marathon event medal.
Runners-up included 7-year-old Sydney Fellin and 11-year-old Addisen McNeece, also students at Roosevelt Elementary, along with 8-year-old Wyatt Davis and 9-year-old Alice Shields, both student’s at Port Ange;es’ Dry Creek Elementary School.
All contest winners receive an entry into the Kids Marathon event, a special certificate and a thank you goody bag.
For the fourth year, the Marathon Committee offered youths a chance to design the artwork for the medal. The Kids Marathon medal is presented to all participants who cross the finish line. This year’s 17th-annual Kids Marathon is set for 3 p.m. on Saturday, June 6, at the Port Angeles City Pier.
