Soroptimist International of Sequim announced last week the the winners of its 2017 Violet Richardson Awards: Cortney Gosset, right, and Abigail Fiero Burdick.
These awards are given to young women based on their volunteer activities to their community. First- and second-place winners receive checks of $250 and the service organization for first place receives a $250 donation. Gosset is a senior at Sequim High School and received first place recognition; her service organization is Rainbow Girls. Second place went to Fiero Burdick (left), a sophomore at Sequim High School; her service organizations are KSQM and St. Luke’s Episcopal Church.
These two young students were not only recognized for their work, but because they feel volunteering is an essential part of their lives, club members said.
