Milestone: Sequim’s Dixon among Molina Healthcare’ Community Champions Award honorees

Molina Healthcare of Washington presented nine individuals with its prestigious Community Champions Award at the 10th annual reception in Renton in late September, honoring outstanding community leaders and advocates for the under-served throughout Washington state.

Among those honored was Dr. Monica Dixon of Sequim.

Dixon is co-founder and board president of the Olympic Peninsula Healthy Community Coalition. As a psychologist and registered dietician, she partners with dozens of other health advocates in Clallam County with the goal of helping establish healthy eating habits and active living in the communities she serves.

Honorees receive $1,000 each to donate to the charity of their choice.

Dixon is donating her grant to the Olympic Peninsula Healthy Community Coalition.

Molina’s Community Champions were honored at a reception presented by Molina Healthcare of Washington president Peter Adler at the Renton Pavilion on Sept. 27.

“Each recipient sets an example to others in their respective communities that giving back – no matter how, why, where or to whom – is noble and worthy of celebration,” Peter Adler, president of Molina Healthcare of Washington, said. “We owe those daily heroes in our communities a debt of gratitude.”

Molina Healthcare of Washington has been providing government-funded care for low-income individuals for nearly 20 years. As of June 2018, the organization serves approximately 776,000 members through Medicaid, Medicare and the Health Benefit Exchange programs across the state of Washington.
