Sequim Wheelers reported the group’s greatest number of individual smiles in a single day when 12 residents of Suncrest Village Retirement Community received introductory rides on the group’s duet assistive wheelchair bicycle on Aug. 30.
Sequim Wheeler pilot Lanie Cates provided pedal power for each ride. Sequim Wheeler Vice President Paul Muncey rode alongside each rider to ensure additional safety during the rides.
“That was one of the best activities we’ve ever had,” Suncrest Village Activity Director Jane Millet said. “So many people got involved and had fun. I love the smiles of our residents. We appreciate how kind every member of the Sequim Wheelers was to us.”
The resident interest from those brief rides turned into requests for full-length (60-minute) rides. Riders Peggy Hendrickson and Karen Wolfe, returned with smiles of their own. According to Muncey, those were the 50th and 51st rides for the Sequim Wheeler 2018 inaugural season.
