Milestone: Soroptimists select Coulson, Robinson for honor

Sequim High seniors Ruby Coulson and Hi’ilei Robinson are Soroptimist International of Sequim’s 2023 Young Women Excelling in High School for the month of March.

Coulson is a member of the Washington State Legislative Youth Advisory Council and the Washington State Teen Equity and Inclusion Task Force. She is also a member of Interact Club, a partner of Sequim Sunrise Rotary, and is the Associated Student Body President at SHS.

Coulson is recognized as the 4-H State Teen Leader of the Year in 2021 and she is recognized locally and nationally in equine presentation. She plans to attend Stanford University and major in public policy and biology.

Robinson has a volunteer background in ecology and through cleanup of marshes, planting trees, protecting indigenous plants and the removal of trash. On Tuesday and Thursdays she volunteers at Helen Haller Elementary School classrooms. Robinson is a recipient of a multitude of awards including swimming, water polo and track and placed first in the 4×400 relay at the Nike track and field nationals in 2022.

Robinson is looking at several colleges and when she makes a commitment, she will be majoring in elementary education and theater arts.
