Milestone: Sound Community Bank boosts Sequim Farmers Market’s local food program

Sound Community Bank staff —including Shelli Robb-Kahler, Julie Hatch and Libby Ballard, who’s a vendor and board member — join Sequim Farmer’s Market board members on July 8 to celebrate the bank’s $2,000 donation. The funds support the Market Match Program and encourages low-income shoppers to purchase locally-grown fresh fruits and vegetables directly from farm vendors. This program allows every $10 EBT purchase made at the market matching funds to spend; for instance, a $10 purchase receives $4 Fresh Bucks (funded by USDA) with an additional $5 Market Match Token, funded by Sound Community Bank, a total match of $9 for every $10 EVT redeemed at the market.
