Milestone: Sturm selected for Elks honor

The Sequim Elks Lodge recently recognized Sequim High School sophomore Payton Sturm as the lodge’s November Student of the Month.

Sturm is show here with here with Elks Charities Chair Maura Mattson and Exalted Ruler Jim Headley, who presented her with a certificate of achievement, an Elks pin and $50.

Sturm was selected based on her academic achievements, community service and activities. She has a 3.9 grade-point-average and is enrolled in Honors Literature, Geometry, Honors Chemistry, Honors Western Civilization, Spanish II, Leadership and Select Choir.

Her interests include music, theater and her dogs. She is ASB Vice President and participates in the Interact Club, Operetta Club and Honor Society, and volunteers for community service programs. Her future goals include attending a four-year college.

Sturm is the daughter of Alan Sturm and Nikki Stevenson of Sequim.
