Monday Musicale named 2022 scholarship winners

Monday Musicale organizers named the organization’s 2022 scholarship recipients recently, scholarship chair Margot Hewitt said earlier this month.

First place, with $2,000 going to each, is shared by violinist Adam Weller and vocalist Avery Grayle Saul (Jolene Dalton Gailey, accompanist).

Second place, with $1,000 going to each, is shared by vocalist Olivia Wray (John Lorentzen, accompanist) and vocalist Liam Clark Reuel Getzin (Gailey, accompanist).

Honorable mention went to vocalist Emi Kay Victoria Halberg (Gailey, accompanist).

“The auditions were held virtually, hopefully for the last time,” Monday Musicale representatives noted.

Adjudicators included: Jonathan Pasternack, Port Angeles Symphony director and conductor; vocalist and music teacher Vicky Helwick, and Vern Foschett, retired Sequim High School band director.

There is an opportunity to hear some of the winners at the Monday Musicale monthly meeting, set for noon on Monday, June 20, at Queen of Angels Fellowship Hall, 290 W. 11th St., Port Angeles.
