‘Music Where you Bark!’ set for Sept. 11

Tess Teel Trio and Sound Advice with Dawn Martin are the featured acts at the final KSQM’s concert series event, scheduled for 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 11, at the James Center for the Performing Arts band shell, 350 N. Blake Ave.

The “Music Where you Bark!” event is held in conjunction with the annual Pet Lovers Day at the Carrie Blake Community Park.

Attendees are invited to bring blankets and lawn chairs to enjoy the free event. The event will also celebrate the nation and first responders.

From 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m., Tess Teel sings bossa nova, swing, jazz, blues and contemporary soft pop/rock in French, Portuguese, Spanish and English with her musical trio.

From 1:30-3 p.m., Sound Advice with Dawn Martin looks to keep the audience moving with Motown, Soul and Rock/Roll tunes from the 1960 and 1970s.

The Sequim Valley Lions will be selling hot dogs and other vendors will be on hand, organizers say.

Kiwanis to host ‘Cutest Pet’ contest, fundraiser

Kiwanis of Sequim-Dungeness invite locals to enter their family pet in their new “Cutest Pet” contest. Bring your pet to Carrie Blake Community Park, 202 N. Blake Ave., by 11 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 11 to register your pet for $10 at the “Cutest Pet” booth. Pet costumes OK, but not required. Registration ends at noon.

A photo will be taken displayed for voting by observers through 3 p.m. Each vote costs $; winners are announced between 3-4 p.m. with prizes donated by Swain’s, Leitz Farms, the Co-op Farm & Garden and QFC.

The event serves as a fundraiser with Kiwanians also selling emergency water filters for $50 each with all funds raised benefiting local children.
