To start off spring, shake off the peninsula winter and support the local arts, the Olympic Peninsula Men’s Chorus and guests will perform “Vocal Chords, Some Strings Attached” on March 22 at the Olympic Theatre Arts in Sequim.

The Olympic Peninsula Men’s Chorus present two shows to benefit OTA. Guests include an a cappella barbershop quartet No Batteries Required, a bluegrass band Luck of the Draw”and the Young Fiddlers.

The men’s chorus is a local a cappella barbershop chorus that performs around the peninsula singing arrangements of old and new songs. OPMC, under the direction of Jim Davis, will be singing several numbers.

Luck of the Draw has been performing around the peninsula for many years and does regular gigs at the Fairmount Restaurant in Port Angeles.

The band performs bluegrass, country, and pop songs as well.

The Young Fiddlers includes the accomplished 14-year-old violinist Kate Powers, who also plays first violin in the Port Angeles Symphony.

Powers is accomplished in both classical and fiddle music and is expected to play both types during the performance.

She also is a member of the recently formed Deka Trio along with cellist Marlene Moore and pianist Gary McRoberts.

The quartet No Batteries Required will be singing barbershop, doo wop and a variety of numbers. NBR and Dave Secord from Luck of the Draw have a special surprise planned for the performance.

Concerts are being presented to raise funds for OTA to allow the volunteer theater company to continue promoting the performing arts in the Sequim area community.

Performances are at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. Tickets are $20 for general admission, $10 for youth.

Tickets are available at the OTA Box Office, 414 N. Sequim Ave., or at Pacific Mist Books in downtown Sequim.
