In December, the North Olympic Library System (NOLS) will host two in-person and two virtual Book Discussion Group meetings. Registration is not required. Learn more and access Zoom links at nols.org/book-groups (or call or visit the library for assistance).

All are welcome — join each month or just drop in. Paperback copies of the titles will be available for pick up any time after the current month’s discussions at the Sequim Library or Port Angeles Library on a first-come, first-served basis. Copies in other formats such as large print, book on CD and eBook may also be available to request through the NOLS catalog.

The December 2023 Book Discussion schedule includes:

• 2nd Saturday Book Discussion Group — “Before We Were Yours” by Lisa Wingate,” 3-4 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 9, at the Sequim Library, 630 N. Sequim Ave.; paperback copies available at Sequim Library

• 2nd Tuesday Book Discussion Group — “Exhalation” by Ted Chiang, 11 a.m.-noon Tuesday, Dec. 12, on Zoom; paperback copies available at Port Angeles Library, 2210 S. Peabody St.

• Novel Conversations Book Discussion Group — “On Tyranny” by Timothy Snyder, 4-5 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 20, on Zoom; paperback copies available at Sequim Library

• Wednesday Evening Book Discussion Group — “The Samurai’s Garden” by Gail Tsukiyama, 6-7 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 20, in the Carver Room at the Port Angeles Library; paperback copies available at Port Angeles Library

In January

In 2024, NOLS will continue to host two in-person Book Discussion Group meetings and will combine the virtual groups to one Zoom meeting each month. Find all of the 2024 book selections listed on NOLS website.

• 2nd Wednesday Book Discussion Group — “The Sentence” by Louise Erdrich, 4-5 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 10, on Zoom; paperback copies available at both Sequim and Port Angeles libraries

• 2nd Saturday Book Discussion Group — “The Art of Racing in the Rain” by Garth Stein, 3-4 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 13, at the Sequim Library; paperback copies available at Sequim Library

• 4th Wednesday Book Discussion Group — “The Invoice” by Jonas Karlsson, 6-7 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 24, in the Carver Room at the Port Angeles Library; paperback copies available at Port Angeles Library
