Olympic Peninsula Men’s Chorus offers free singing lessons

The Olympic Peninsula Men’s Chorus will be presenting “Free Singing Lessons For Men” starting on May 9 and continuing for four weeks.

Lessons are one hour each week starting at 6:30 p.m. at Olympic Theatre Arts, 414 N. Sequim Ave.

There are no tryouts for these free lessons and men of all ages are welcome to attend. Participants can come to as many of the lessons as they choose.

The lessons are led by local voice teacher Kyra Humphrey. Participants will learn healthy singing, finding range, singing in close harmony and tuning.

A Washington native, Humphrey was born in Spokane and attended Gonzaga University. She continued her education at the University of Washington, where she completed her master’s degree in vocal performance in 1983. She was on the voice faculty at Northwest College in Kirkland, maintained a full-time private vocal studio in Seattle, performed regularly as a soloist with Pacific Northwest Ballet and the Seattle Choral Company, and was director of contemporary music at St. Monica Catholic Church on Mercer Island.
