Olympic Theatre Arts auditions

Olympic Theatre Arts holds auditions for its fall production of "Arms and The Man" by Bernard Shaw at

1 p.m. Saturday, June 12, and at 6:30 p.m. Monday, June 14. Rehearsals begin in mid-July and the production runs Sept. 16-Oct. 3. Roles are available for three women and four men, ages 20s to 60s.

The characters include Raina, a young and beautiful woman full of romantic ideals about love, nobility, courage and beauty; Catherine, Raina’s mother, a smart and capable woman who is determined to be a Viennese lady; Major Petkoff, Raina’s father, is cheerful, excitable, unpolished and naturally unambitious except when it comes to his importance in local society; Major Saranoff, engaged to Raina, is dashing and observant but what he observes constantly disappoints his romantic ideals for the world; Louka, the maidservant, is handsome and proud. She is defiant in her servility and has great contempt for those who serve willingly; Nicola, the head servant, has a cool temperament and is a very intelligent and capable man; and Captain Bluntschli, a professional soldier, is a worldly, cool-headed and pragmatic man with a sense of humor about his situation in the world.
