Auditions for Olympic Theatre Arts production of the Tony award-winning play “Skylight” are set for Saturday, July 16.

Written by Dave Hare and directed by Angela Poynter, the play tells the story of star-crossed lovers with very different socio-political ideologies.

Director Angela Poynter is seeking three actors to play the following roles:

• Kyra Hollis: Female, lead/protagonist. Stage age range, 28-35; highly intelligent school teacher for at-risk children; requires a very strong actress with wide emotional range.

• Edward Seargent: Supporting male. Stage age range, 18-22; college student and son of wealthy English businessman. Great role for young male actor with capacity for both humor and pathos.

• Tom Seargent: Lead male. Stage age range, 45-65; successful and wealthy English businessman with A-type personality. A wonderful role for a strong leading male actor with a wide emotional range.

Auditions begin at 1 p.m. in the Gathering Hall at the Olympic Theatre Arts center, 414 N. Sequim Ave. Actors may bring a resumé and a head shot and prepare a monologue, however, this is not a requirement to audition.

Rehearsals for “Skylight” begin July 25 with an opening date of Sept. 9. Those who cannot attend the July 16 audition are asked to call or text Poynter at 477-6250 to set up an alternate audition time.

Those auditioning will be required to read from scenes in the play, which will be provided at the audition.

The storyline takes place in London, England, and will require actors to perform their roles with a British accent; participants are asked to be prepared to at least attempt the accent at the audition.

Scripts are available for review from the OTA business office from 1-5 p.m. open Monday-Friday. Call 683-7326.
