Olympic Theatre Arts to offer free ‘improv’ class

Olympic Theatre Arts, Sequim, is offering a free improvisation class from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, June 29.

Professional instructors Bill Thomas, founder of The Possibilities Group that provides services nationally bringing improv into the corporate workplace, and Michael Schmitt, stand-up comedian and owner of Enertia Improv, will conduct the program entitled “Improv for Everyone.”

“Improv is a great tool for the actor and the layman alike; it sharpens listening skills and develops a quick wit which is what makes it so much fun,” said Thomas.

“We look forward to playing with a new group of people at Olympic Theatre Arts and really exploring the comedic aspects of the craft.”

Following this inaugural session, Olympic Theatre Arts will offer continuous weekly classes each Thursday for two hours where participants pay $20 at the door and come as often as they like.

“After we get going, we hope to offer live performance opportunities for those participants who are interested on First Fridays during the Sequim Art Walk,” Olympic Theatre Arts executive director Carol Willis said.

“Improv for Everyone” will be held at Olympic Theatre Arts Center, 414 N. Sequim Ave.
