OPAS plans bluebird survey, needs volunteers

OPAS plans bluebird survey, seeks volunteers

The Olympic Peninsula Audubon Western Bluebird Watch program has partnered with National Audubon in a new program called Climate Watch.

The program was developed as followup to the 2014 Audubon Birds and Climate Change report that highlighted the risks that climate change poses to birds across North America.

The OPAS Western Bluebird Watch Program will partner with National Audubon to test the climate model. The program will focus on areas of predicted change for bluebirds across the OPAS chapter territory and highlight range expansion and contraction. Volunteers are needed to conduct 5-minute surveys within these identified points where areas of expansion are greatest. The survey will be from Jan. 15-30.
