Olympic Theatre Arts continues its performing arts contribution to the First Friday Art Walk, An Unusual Evening in Sequim, with an original radio play, “The Case of the Case of Missing Lavender,” on July 4.
July’s An Unusual Evening in Sequim features an original radio play that mixes mystery with lavender to celebrate Sequim’s Lavender Festival and “Sherlock Holmes’: the Final Adventure,” the final production in Olympic Theatre Arts’ 2013-2014 season.
“This … is a collaborative effort by writers and actors,” said Sharon DeLaBarre, member of the OTA Board and Productions Committee.
Local writers Tom Darter, Heidi Hansen and Karen Hogan created the story, Hogan wrote a draft of the script and then worked with actors E.J. Anderson, Danny Willis, Heidi Hansen and Tom Darter to bring it to the stage.Anderson, Willis, Keith Curtis, Susan Dwyer and Alan Halfhil will perform the play.
“An Unusual Evening in Sequim has quickly become a popular First Friday stop,” says OTA board member Kathy Purcell. “Invite your friends to stroll through Art Walk, then make Olympic Theatre Arts Center your final First Friday destination for a glass of wine and an unusual experience with performing arts.”
This month’s An Unusual Evening in Sequim begins at 6:30 p.m. in the Gathering Hall at Olympic Theatre Arts Center, 414 N. Sequim Ave. There is no charge for this event. OTA sets ‘Holmes’ cast
Sequim’s Olympic Theatre Arts has announced the cast for the final Main Stage production of OTA’s 2013-2014 season, “Sherlock Holmes: The Final Adventure.”
The detective caper was written by Steven Dietz, author of “Becky’s New Car,” OTA’s season-opener. The Sherlock “whodunit,” based on an 1899 play by William Gillette and Arthur Conan Doyle, hits the stage July 11-27 and will be directed by Loren Johnson.
Cast members include the following: Nikki Adams as Irene Adler; EJ Anderson III as Holmes; Tom Darter as Dr. Watson; Ben Catterson in multiple parts; Keith Curtis as Moriarty; Sharon DeLaBarre as Madge; Carl Honore as the King of Bohemia; Marcus McInerney as James Larrabee and Danny Willis as Sid Prince.
“The play presents Sherlock Holmes at the height of his powers amid all the elements one could expect,” Johnson said. “It’s a pleasure to see these iconic characters come to life.”
“Sherlock Holmes: The Final Adventure” has a preview night on July 10 and a “pay what you will” performance during the following week. The show will run on three weekends, Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30 p.m., Sundays at 2 p.m.
Seats are reserved for all regular performances and are $16 or $14 for OTA members and active military personnel.
