OTA announces cast for raucous comedy ‘Squabbles’

Olympic Theatre Arts announces cast for “Squabbles” that opens April 8 for a three-week run.

Olympic Theatre Arts has announced the cast for its next main stage production, “Squabbles” by Marshall Karp, a production that opens April 8 for a three-week run.

“This cast is a unique mixture of OTA veterans and newcomers,” director Larry Harwood said. “And as it should be, they are getting along just like family, a few squabbles along the way but in the end, just like family.”

Veteran OTA actors include three from the season’s opening show “The Real Inspector Hound,” E.J. Anderson (“Sherlock Holmes: the Final Adventure”) as jingle writer Jerry Sloan; Peter Greene (“Becky’s New Car”) as Jerry’s nemesis father-in-law Abe Dreyfus, and Jennifer Horton (“Steel Magnolias”) as Jerry’s wife Alice Sloan.

Other veterans include Cathy Marshall, who directed and played in the Holiday Revue in December, as Jerry’s meddling mother Mildred Sloan, and Monica Ostrom, playing Mrs. Fisher, who also played a cameo role in “The Man Who Came to Dinner.”

OTA is welcoming newcomers Jim Coventry, who will be playing Abe’s card-playing buddy Sol Wasserman, and Bud Davies as Hector Lopez, the Sloan’s comic handyman.

“I am so happy to have a cast so willing and capable of bringing this heartwarming story to life,” Harwood said. “It’s a pleasure to experience its development.”

Also new for this production, OTA is offering pre-show dinners on Saturdays from 5:30-6:30 p.m. by reservation only. Advance sale dinner tickets are available at the OTA box office for “Squabbles” Saturday night ticket holders.

The price for the dinner is $18 per seat and includes an entrée, side dish, salad and dessert served buffet style in the Gathering Hall before the show. A cash bar also will be open up to show time.

Tickets for the show are $16 for adults, $14 for members and active military $10 for youth and are available online at www.olympictheatrearts.org or at the OTA box office at 414 N. Sequim Ave., 683-7326. The office is open 1-5 p.m. Monday-Friday.
