OTA announces cast for ‘The Gin Game’

Sequim’s Olympic Theatre Arts has announced the casting of the next Second Stage production, “The Gin Game,” opening on May 12.

There are only two characters in this Pulitzer Prize-winning play, both of them performed by veterans as both actors and directors on the OTA stage. Olivia Shea will play Fonsia Dorsey and Pat Owens will create Weller Martin.

The characters are residents of a retirement home, where they meet and explore each other’s lives over many games of gin.

The play comes alive under the direction of Dmitri Gerasimenko. Born in Russia and holding a master’s degree from the St. Petersburg State Theater Academy, Gerasimenko recently directed “The Odd Couple, Female Version” in Port Angeles.

“Under his direction at OTA, the actors will run the gamut of the highest emotional highs and the lowest lows,” OTA members say. “The interaction of these two experienced performers will undoubtedly bring the audiences to both laughter and tears.”

“The Gin Game” will run for two weekends from May 12-21, with performances on Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30 p.m., and Sundays at 2 p.m., in the OTA Gathering Hall, 414 N. Sequim Ave.

The theater’s beverage bar and concessions will be available.

Tickets are on sale at the theater box office or online at www.olympictheatrearts.org. For more information, contact the box office from 1-5 p.m. Monday-Friday at 683-7326.
