P.C. hosts jazz concerts

Peninsula College plays host to a pair of jazz concerts, set for Aug. 4 and 12. The Peninsula College Jazz Ensemble, under the direction of P.C. music professor Dr. David Jones, is bringing back its summer concert series with two performances; both are free and open to the public.

The Aug. 4 Jazz on the Lawn concert begins at noon on the Peninsula College Green behind the PUB just east of the “M” building. In case of rain, the concert will be moved indoors to the PUB entertainment stage.

The Aug. 12 Summer Quarter Jazz Concert will be held in Maier Performance Hall at 7 p.m.

Both concerts feature vocalist Robbin Eaves with a 12-piece jazz band (six horns plus rhythm). Music is by Thelonious Monk, Freddie Hubbard, Mongo Santamaria, Elmo Hope, Oliver Nelson and others.
