The Peninsula College Jazz Ensemble gives two free concerts for community members on Nov. 19 and Dec. 3 with choices in both time and location.
The popular “Jazz in the Pub” series returns on Tuesday, Nov. 19, with an hour-long concert by the Jazz Ensemble. Performed on the PUB stage, the concert begins at 12:30 p.m. Guests are invited to bring their own lunch or pick up a quick bite and/or coffee at the Pirate Cove café.
The Dec. 3 concert begins at 7 p.m. at Maier Performance Hall.
Both concerts feature music by John Coltrane, Thelonious Monk, J.J. Johnson, Herbie Hancock, Sonny Rollins and Jimmy van Heusen. Vocals are by Robbin Eaves and include such hits as “Come Rain or Come Shine,” “The Christmas Song” and “Little Did I Dream.”
Band members include Sequim residents Bob Hagan and Dave Hinton; Port Angeles residents Bob Bailey, Tor Brandes, Hannah Howell, Kevin MacCartney, Mike Mills, Jim Rosand and Richard Thorson; Port Townsend residents John Adams and Brian Douglas; Forks resident Chris Martinez and Quilcene resident John Sanders.
P.C. music professor Dr. David Jones is the director and Steve Lingle, director of Olympic Band, is the substitute director.
