The Port Angeles High School Chamber Orchestra takes Sequim’s lunchtime stage Tuesday, Nov. 17.

St. Luke’s Episcopal Church’s Music Live with Lunch brings in 16 students to the church’s sanctuary, 525 N. Fifth Ave., led by Ron Jones starting at noon for the monthly 30-minute show followed by a hot lunch.

Some of the award-winning orchestra’s repertoire includes “The Music of the Night,” “Allegro in G” and “Amazing Grace.”

The orchestra is one of three at Port Angeles High School and has continued for 96 years. Since 1998, students have earned nine first, second or third place trophies at the WIAA State Music Championships

Jones has directed the group since 1975 and has won several local, state and national awards for his work as an educator, including the state Outstanding Public School Music Teacher, the state 2002 Music Educator of the Year and the Outstanding Music Educator Award.

In 2006, Jones was inducted into the Washington Music Educators Association Hall of Fame and he received the 2014 Clallam County Service Award.

In Sequim, Lou and Bill Yandell founded Music Live with Lunch more than 25 years ago as an outreach to the community. Concerts run 30 minutes on the third Tuesday of each month from September-May except December with a hot lunch in the parish hall. Tickets are $10 at the door or in advance from the church office from 9 a.m.-noon Monday-Thursday. For more information, call 683-4862.
